I grew up in Ireland and I lived in Greece, England and Australia, before moving to Nova Scotia with my family in 2019. The most interesting job that I had before training to be a speech-language pathologist (SLP) was working as a Ministerial Correspondent Officer in London, where I was part of a team that responded to letters addressed to the Prime Minister about health-related issues.
I've worked in various elementary, middle and high schools since completing my SLP degree at City St George's, University of London in 2009. I'm registered with Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC), and the Nova Scotia Regulator of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (NSRASLP). Additionally, I have a BA (Hons) in English Studies and I completed a Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies with the Autism Centre of Excellence (ACE) at Griffith University, Australia. ACE's approach aligns with the Neurodiversity Paradigm and has a strong focus on incorporating the voices of the autistic community.
I also keep up with the latest autistic-led research to ensure that any supports I offer are aligned with the Neurodiversity Movement, which views autism as a natural variation of the human brain and not as a disorder to be treated and cured.
I offer a free, no obligation 15 minutes consultation. If you would like to find out more about how I can support you, please get in touch.
